Haze Report
雾霾报告
This book reports interviews with China’s haze. The Chinese capital has for many years suffered from serious air pollution. Primary sources of pollutants include exhaust emission from Beijing's more than five million motor vehicles, coal-burning in neighboring regions, dust storms from the north, and local construction dust. A particularly severe smog engulfed the city for weeks in early 2013, elevating public awareness to unprecedented levels and prompting the government to roll out emergency measures. Millions of people in China are breathing a hazardous cocktail of chemicals every day. These chemicals are caused by coal-fired power plants, factories, and vehicles, and are responsible for heart disease, stroke, respiratory illnesses, birth defects and cancer. Read more about air pollution in China including our groundbreaking investigative reports.
